Conor Cooney burst onto the senior hurling scene as a promising nineteen year old in 2012. Fresh off the back of Under 21 success with his beloved Galway, Cooney made a sharp first impression, cementing himself as a regular in the Tribesmen’s army. Galway reached the All-Ireland final in his first season as a member of the senior squad but only to be defeated by a defiant Kilkenny side after a replay. Defeat again followed to the same opposition in 2015. The hard luck stories continued. Conor suffered many hampering injuries along his journey which interrupted his progression along with Galway’s success. However Conor’s day would come. September 3rd, 2017.
